If you are unable to keep the pool water values within the normal range, the water may turn green. In this case, it's time to use pool chemicals against algae (if the water is just cloudy, check out the section on clarifying agents - flocculants).
Using Pool Chemicals Against Algae
If you have a counter-current system, choose a better product – Alba super, which does not foam and can also be used in swimming pools. If you have a smaller pool, a basic algicide – algex – will suffice.
Both products are similarly effective against algae. The main difference is in the foaming properties.
How to Dose Algaecide
If you have green water in your pool, it’s not enough to just pour algaecide into the pool and walk away.
Steps to treat green water:
1) Adjust the pH level in the pool
2) Add chlorine shock to the pool or sodium hypochlorite for water treatment
3) Backwash the filter sand and keep the pool pump running
4) Add algaecide
